Welcome!
We are happy that you have decided to undertake this learning endeavour.
We developed this learning module with the aim of empowering LGBT+Q+ youth and experts for systemic and quality prevention of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Through this learning module, we want LGBT+Q+ youth entering the labour market or who are already working, to get acquainted with the key concepts of an inclusive workplace and work environment. Also, this learning module is for different stakeholders including decision makers, professionals working with youth, youth workers, human resource managers, etc. who would like to get to know what problems sexual and/or gender minorities face when entering the labour market, and what can be done to develop inclusive workplace environments.
Structure of the Module
This module is structured around four key topics:
In the “Sex, Sexuality, and Gender” section you will explore key concepts, definitions, relations between society and sexuality as well as LGBT+Q+ history.
Section “LGBT+Q+ in the Workplace” offers you an insight into safe workplace features, human rights and mechanisms for protecting human rights, discrimination, and the overview of the current position of sexual and/or gender minorities in the workplace in six European countries.
In the “Inclusion” section you will get to know the current legal framework that protects one against discrimination in the workplace, and the key “ingredients” of top-quality inclusion strategies in different sectors.
In the final section on “Country Specific Topics” you will learn more about solutions to the most pressing issues for LGBT+Q+ individuals in each of the participating countries.
Module Resources
In building this learning module we used two types of resources:
Firstly, we heavily relied on existing materials in each of the participating countries. Our idea was to use the materials already existing, but to organise it in a meaningful way so that you can get the best possible perspective of the issue.
Secondly, we produced additional resources based on research done during the WE PROJECT. We wanted to “translate” our research findings into an understandable and encouraging language that offers LGBT+Q+ youth and stakeholders an overview of the situation with proposed ideas and solutions.
This learning module uses several types of resources. In the lessons, you will find short book excerpts, presentations, news articles, and YouTube videos.
There are short quizzes between lessons to repeat what you have learnt.
Language
The working language of this module is English. The core resources in each lesson are in English, Spanish, German, Serbian, Slovakian, and Croatian.
Certificate
All learners completing this module and having 70% or more on quizzes will get the Certificate of Completion.
Disclaimer
As mentioned above, in building this module we used external resources – texts, documents, and videos. All of these resources are used in good faith and neither the WE PROJECT nor any of the consortium members claim copyright to any of the external materials. If the author/s of these resources think/s that these materials should not be used in this module, please let us know at: weprojecteurope@gmail.com.
